On Wednesday, September 19, 2018 the Toledo Section took a tour of the
Toledo Waterways Initiative’s (TWI) Downtown Toledo Storage Basin.
The Toledo Waterways Initiative is an 18 year federally funded water pollution program that is designed to reduce the amount of untreated sewage overflow into the area waterways.
The city is spending $527 million on improvements to improve the quality of rivers and streams.
The Basin can be viewed at the corner of Olive St. and Summit St. in Toledo. The project is due to be completed in May of 2020. The Basin and connecting pipelines to the existing Downtown CSO tunnel will have a capacity of 17 million gallons.
