The ASCE Toledo Section visited the Toledo Water Treatment Plant and took a tour of the upcoming improvements currently under construction at the plant. The improvements span the entire treatment process, from the intake at the lake to the distribution system. The overall improvements will cost $500,000,000 with one of the largest portions going to the new Ozone Treatment facility ($54,000,00). This ozone treatment facility will treat the microcystins toxins produced by the cyanobacteria (also known as blue-green algae). Improvements are to be completed by 2022.
